Donation Policy and Etiquette

Arrangements to drop off donations can be made via email: aberdeenareafostercloset@gmail.com or Facebook Messenger.

Your donations are greatly appreciated and help provide needed items to children who have been placed in foster care. Please remember, these children have been through trauma and need to be shown they are valued, loved and deserving of better.  

To ensure your donations make a positive impact on foster children in need PLEASE follow the guidelines provided. 

1. Cleanliness: Please make sure all items are freshly laundered and free of pet hair (allergens), lint or excessive wrinkles.  
2. Before dropping off your donation, please discard items with permanent stains, tears, missing buttons, broken zippers, odors that will not come out and elastic that has lost its stretch and become brittle.
3. For hygiene purposes, we can only accept brand-new underwear and socks in their original packaging.
4. Non-clothing items should be cleaned and sanitized so they are ready for the next person to use.
5. Items that have been stored away for a period of time need to be freshly laundered and checked as they collect odors, dust, etc. in storage.

Our goal is to give children some dignity, and honor them by providing items they can feel good wearing and using right away.  

Unfortunately, we do not have the resources or time to clean items so your extra effort before donating is greatly appreciated and honored!
